First – it is important to know and believe that salvation begins with God and flows out of His love for you.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Second – Sin has separated you from God. You must acknowledge the truth that you are a sinner.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Third – You must believe that sin has a penalty.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
To continue in sin will result in spiritual death, eternity in hell, separated from God forever.
Fourth – You must believe that Jesus died on the cross in your place, paying the penalty for your sins so that you might have the opportunity to be reconciled to God.
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Fifth – You must believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ died for you to make possible forgiveness from your sins and eternal life in heaven. Salvation is a free gift God graciously offers to you and whosoever will believe in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.
Ephesians 2:8, 9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Sixth – Pray and invite Jesus Christ to come into your life. When you accept Jesus Christ – when you accept what He has done for you - you become a child of God.
John 1:12 “But as many as received Him [Christ], to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
